Montenegro Route

Montenegro is a much talked about new destination, its beauty highlighted in the latest James Bond movie Casino Royale, shot in some parts of Montenegro.

Dalmatian Destinations points out to those that try and compare its coastline to Croatia that it is very different - although very beautiful, it is more vertical and rugged south of Kotor and if shelter is required those little bays in the lee of the island you are used to off the Dalmatian coast are less numerous. Dalmatian Destinations recommend a twin destination 6 day sailing holiday which allows enough time for you to visit Montenegro and the southern islands of Croatia, disembarking in Dubrovnik.

Cavtat and Kotor are a must to visit with good restaurants, sailing south for a further 5 hours the towns of San Stefan, Budva and Ulcinj are all outstanding places to visit with lovely beaches. A special license is required to sail from Croatia to Montenegro and not all Croatian flagged boats carry that license. You embark your boat in Dubrovnik and set sail south immediately passing Cavtat, Herceg Novi, and Budva to arrive and spend the second night in Kotor. On you return to Croatia you will be stopping at Mljet, a beautiful island, that has a very famous and stunningly beautiful National Park, Peljesac, one of the wine growing regions of Croatia. Sailing further north, you will visit Lastovo, recently proclaimed as a national park and Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo.

For the more sporty and energetic your boat will cater for water skiing, jet skiing, doghnutting, kayaking, snorkelling and windsurfing.
